As I read, The Negotiator, by Dee Henderson, I became entranced in the world of excitement that our law enforcement officers face willingly on a daily basis. When a deranged man, Henry Lott, decided to bomb a bank, Kate was called in as the negotiator to save the hostages, customers and staff at the bank, while Dave was a customer at the bank, a bystander, that had a savior complex and a badge. After the lengthy standoff at the bank, where Dave and Kate become allies, Dave discovers that not only is Kate a brilliant negotiator, but that he has a strong desire to know her on a personal level. Only, Dave is a devout Christian and shortly after the book begins he comes to find that Kate is not.
