When reading Of Poseidon, by Anna Banks, I was brought into the world of Syrena (Don't you dare call them mermaids!). Galen and Emma are faced with forbidden love, identity crisis, and lover's quarrel. Emma has a large connection with seacreatures. That's not normal. When Emma meets Galen she is sucked into his world, that her mom has tried desperately to keep her out of. In the end, her and her mother both get sucked up into the world they have been hiding from.
